Our Work
We work with 100% of the students in each class. We provide individual attention and constant follow-up, making it almost impossible for any participant to give up and not reach the goal of attending a postsecondary institution.

Preparing for Postsecondary Studies
Our efforts in SECONDARY SCHOOL, to prepare students to successfully apply, enroll in, and complete postsecondary studies, are concentrated in three areas during their 10th, 11th and 12th grades. These areas and desired outcomes are:
University life planning

Students acquire the knowledge and experiences to help them understand and plan effectively for a postsecondary education. This is done through individual and group counseling, field visits to local universities and financial and scholarship guidance.
Academic achievement

Students learn how to prepare for the local University Admissions Test “Prueba de Admisión Universitaria” also known as PAA, offered by the College Board. They also participate in workshops to improve their academic performance in Spanish, specifically developing effective written and oral competencies.
Socio-emotional skills

ColaborativoPR has an academic counselor that meets individually and in groups with all participants, providing help in all areas of University Life Planning. Having access to this counselor, in addition to the school counselor, has been fundamental to the program’s success. We also partner with other local nonprofit organizations to help students in the Academic and Socioemotional skill areas.

Earning a Postsecondary Degree
During POSTSECONDARY studies, ColaborativoPR wants to ensure a successful transition and retention of these students. The following describes how we work with our postsecondary participants:
Educational Student Grants

We provide grants for academic related expenses for items such as transportation, books, school supplies, tutoring and even clothing and food.
Partnering with Postsecondary Institutions:

We work together with various postsecondary institutions to ensure that our participants are identified to receive the appropriate and needed services.
Workshops

ColaborativoPR convenes postsecondary participants twice in a semester, to follow up on how they are adjusting to their institution and their school work, and to discuss any other pressing issue they might be facing.
